Publication alert: Ancient genomes reveal trans-Eurasian connections between the European Huns and the Xiongnu Empire.

A team of HistGenes researchers has published an article in PNAS regarding the origin of the Huns. So far the evidence was very limited, but with the combined approach of archaeology, anthropolgy, archaeogenetics and historiography the research yielded significant results. The team was able to prove that the Hun migration from East Asia to the plains of Pannonia was not straightforward, whereby DNA admixture occured and some cultural traits were lost.
