TIMELINE

Since 2010: Pilot project

Patrick Geary and Krishna Veeramah at UCLA build a cooperation between historians, geneticists and archaeologists. Walter Pohl and Tivadar Vida, and later Johannes Krause also become involved in a pilot project on the Longobard migration from Pannonia to Italy, which over time is funded by several agencies, such as the Leibniz Stiftung, The Swedish Bicentennial Fund and the US National Science Foundation. First results are published in ‘Nature Communications’ in September 2018.
